Advent is a season of celebration that prepares us for Christmas. It is a time when we prepare our hearts for the birth of our Lord, remembering the first coming of the Son of God among us, while eagerly awaiting the second coming of Christ. Advent is a season of joyful expectation and worship. Veritas hosts a series of events during this period.
St. Nicholas Day
St. Nicholas Day is a special event prepared for children aged 5-12. Children have the opportunity to participate in various creative workshops and are encouraged to identify ways to express kindness and generosity toward those around them, just as St. Nicholas did.
March of Lights
The March of Lights is an important event during Advent. Christians from all churches in Sighisoara are invited to gather and pray together for the good of the city. Participants walk through the citadel with lit candles, stopping at the three churches in the fortress, the German School, and the City Hall to pray and sing carols. The route ends in the Citadel Square where the festive atmosphere continues with warm drinks and pastries.
Ecumenical Concert
The Ecumenical Concert has evolved from a gathering of a few friends at the House on the Rock in 2001 to a splendid evening at the Orthodox Cathedral in 2006 featuring traditional carols from various cultures in different languages, uniting Christians in the spirit of Christmas. In recent years, the concert has been hosted by the Reformed Church. Church choirs from the city, together with vocal and folklore groups from the Sighisoara area, participate in this concert.
