About This Service
The Social Canteen serves a daily average of 75 beneficiaries each month: 35 children from the Day Center for Children, 15 people with disabilities from the Day Center for Adults with Special Needs, and 25 elderly from the Day Center for Retired Adults or people with no income or low income, some referred by the Social Assistance Directorate.
How We Operate
To ensure the smooth running of our services, we carefully plan a weekly menu based on the principles of healthy, balanced nutrition. Depending on the menu, we procure vegetables, fruits, dairy products, and meats at least weekly.
Children, teenagers, people with special needs, and the elderly receive a hot meal consisting of soup and a main course. When possible, we also offer desserts: compote, homemade cakes, juices, and fruits. The menus are varied and adapted to the season.
The menu is displayed weekly in a visible location. At least one meal per day contains meat. We use vegetables and dairy from authorized producers of the highest quality.
Quality & Hygiene Standards
The kitchen is equipped to the highest professional standards, meeting all DSP (Public Health Authority) requirements. We take daily samples stored in a designated refrigerator. Dish disinfection is performed daily, and all spaces are kept clean and sanitized according to a hygiene plan with daily, weekly, and monthly interventions.
In July 2025, all canteen spaces were repainted and disinfected in accordance with sanitary regulations.
We also have a greenhouse and a vegetable garden on the foundation's premises. During the summer months, we prepare pickles, jams, sauces, and tomato paste.
Meal Service
Lunch is served in 3 or 4 shifts depending on the activity schedule, starting at 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Beneficiaries eat in specially arranged dining spaces with wooden furniture, tables, chairs, benches, cutlery, and stainless steel dishes. Each person receives a tray with utensils, napkin, plate with first and second course, and a cup of water.
Satisfaction surveys show that the majority of beneficiaries rate the quality of service as good and very good.
